In 1946 with little more than a sewing machine and strong work ethic Kurt and Anny Landsberger founded Bel-Art. In those early days they made and sold tablecloths and household aprons, upon finding out that the material they were using was chemically resistant they began marketing these items to laboratories and medical supply houses.
With the massive success of their chemically resistant aprons Bel-Art pioneered the use of plastic equipment and consumables in the laboratory.
A Legacy of Innovation, Now Global
In 2014 Bel-Art joined the SP family of brands, SP later became a part of the ATS Life Sciences division in 2021.
Today, SP Bel-Art has over 2,700 products ranging from lab consumables to benchtop lab equipment and prides itself on over 80% of its products being made in the USA. It is a renowned world leader in stir bar technology, sterile sampling, and desiccation to name a few.
